A Shared Mission in Action: OPS Group and NBCF Take the Next Step in Breast Cancer Research Support
Earlier this year, OPS Group proudly launched a major charitable initiative in collaboration with Finlay and Terex, forming an official partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). At the core of this partnership is a clear mission: to support breast cancer research and help advance NBCF’s bold vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
Our fundraising campaign centres around a uniquely customised Finlay 883+, affectionately dubbed “Pinky” — a machine painted in vibrant NBCF pink and branded with the Foundation’s logo. As part of our rental fleet, a portion of the revenue generated from Pinky is donated directly to NBCF, with a goal of raising $100,000 in support of life-saving breast cancer research.
This week marked a significant milestone in that journey.
A Visit to a centre of Innovation
Our team had the privilege of visiting the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, where we witnessed first-hand the ground-breaking work that NBCF is helping to fund. The opportunity to step inside the lab, observe the researchers in action, and learn about the cutting-edge projects currently underway was a powerful reminder of the real impact that corporate partnerships like ours can make.
Hearing directly from scientists who are pushing the boundaries of cancer detection, treatment, and prevention brought fresh perspective to our efforts — and reinforced our team’s commitment to this cause.
Presenting the First Cheque: $76,850 Raised
During our visit, we had the honour of presenting NBCF with a cheque for $76,850, generated through the Pinky machine campaign. This incredible result reflects the collective effort of our OPS team, Finlay, Terex, and the many customers, business partners, and industry contacts who supported this initiative by choosing to hire Pinky and help spread awareness.
The result is not just a financial contribution — it’s a symbol of what’s possible when an industry rallies behind a cause that touches so many lives.
Why NBCF?
The statistics speak volumes. Breast cancer remains the most diagnosed cancer among women in Australia. In 2022 alone, over 20,000 Australians were diagnosed — including more than 1,000 women under the age of 40. The NBCF has been working tirelessly to improve outcomes, and since its inception in 1994, has helped reduce breast cancer mortality by 43% through investments in world-class research.
By aligning with NBCF, OPS is proud to play a role in helping to push that progress even further.
A First for the Industry
This project also represents a landmark achievement: it’s the first time Terex has approved a pink-painted machine for a charity campaign — a request long made by dealerships globally, but never before realised. It's also on track to become NBCF’s largest first-year corporate partnership donation in history.
As Joe Donnelly, Regional Sales Director for Finlay, put it:
“A big, bright, pink machine is not something you’d often see in our industry — but that’s the point. We want it to start conversations, raise awareness, and help create a ripple effect of positive change.”
Looking Ahead
With "Pinky" due to head out on its next hire campaign in the coming weeks, we’re energised to continue the momentum. This machine is more than just a piece of equipment — it’s a vehicle for change, purpose-built to drive both operational results and community impact.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who has made this possible so far. From our internal teams to our OEM partners and loyal customers, this is a shared achievement. We're honoured to support NBCF’s vision and remain committed to seeing this partnership grow.
